US Sending $300M (More) in Military Aid to Ukraine

Wednesday, the US Department of Defense announced that they are sending another $300 million in military aid to Ukraine. This marks the 37th aid package from the Pentagon for Ukraine since the start of the war in February 2022. Total military assistance so far is at about $36B.

The new aid package was carved out by presidential authorization from the Pentagon’s warehouses.

It contains additional ammunition for the HIMARS systems (provided by the US), additional howitzers, artillery and mortar shells, anti-tank weapons and more.

The aid package also includes TOW anti-tank guided missiles, AT-4 and Carl Gustaf anti-armor missile systems, and Hydra-70 unguided aircraft rockets, small arms and ammunition, along with trucks and trailers for transporting heavy equipment.

In a press release covering the announcement of the package, the DOD said, “The United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements.”
