University of Alabama Rush Week 2020 Was a Bizarre Experience, According to One TikToker

Ava Scoville explains what it was like to Rush for sorority life at the University of Alabama in 2020. Everything but Bid Day was virtual, due to the pandemic.

She experienced a bit of a culture shock going from small-town New York state to the South where people take their Greek Life seriously.

The TikToker explained that girls from the South had their parents with them, and had been preparing for Rush their whole lives.

She recalls the app that they used to plan out their day to day routines would tell you each morning which houses had dropped you – i.e. refused to offer you a place. She recalls hearing girls screaming and crying down the hallways of the place where she was staying during Rush week.

The former Alabama sorority girl explains, “Most of the girls were really nice, except for some of the old-row sororities.”

Scoville says she did get the house she wanted, but “I was only there for two weeks” because she and her roommates got COVID. She ended up transferring out.
