Twitter Told Advertisers It Found Ads on Profiles Linked with Child Sex Abuse

Twitter informed advertisers that it had found ads on profiles linked to child sex abuse.

The company says they banned the accounts and informed some advertisers that they would be suspending ads on profiles.

Twitter said in an email to advertisers and advertising agencies that they are investigating what happened and now working closely with its clients and partners to look into the situation and take steps to prevent it from recurring.

A spokesperson said to Business Insider, “In addition to the ongoing work being done to detect better and suspend accounts posting CSE material, we are working with our product teams to ensure we have the right models, processes, and products in place to help keep everyone who uses Twitter safe – people and brands alike.”

For now, ads on profiles are disabled.
