Tragic “Implosion” Claims Lives of All Five Aboard Submersible

The Coast Guard during an afternoon news briefing, it was confirmed that the debris discovered near the Titanic wreckage site belonged to the missing submersible that had been unaccounted for over the past four days. This revelation left no doubt that the five individuals on board had tragically lost their lives.

Rear Adm. John Mauger, commander of the First Coast Guard District, stated, “The debris recovered indicates a catastrophic implosion of the vessel.” The wreckage was located at the depths of the ocean floor, approximately 1,600 feet away from the Titanic site. Admiral Mauger also mentioned that the families of the victims had already been informed of this heartbreaking outcome.

The ill-fated 22-foot vessel was en route to explore the Titanic’s remains when contact with its support ship was severed on Sunday.

Admiral Mauger noted that the debris was found approximately 1,600 feet away from the bow of the Titanic on the sea floor, emphasizing that it was too early to determine the exact time of the Titan’s implosion. The Coast Guard will continue its investigation using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
