The January 6 Committee has Officially Sent a Subpoena to Donald Trump to Compel Testimony and Evidence

The House panel investigating January 6 voted unanimously earlier this month to subpoena former POTUS Donald Trump as part of their ongoing investigation into the Capitol riots.

And now, they have formally issued that subpoena, compelling Trump to provide both testimony and documents.

As part of a 10-page letter to Trump, Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) and vice chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said in a statement, “As demonstrated in our hearings, we have assembled overwhelming evidence, including from dozens of your former appointees and staff, that you personally orchestrated and oversaw a multipart effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election and to obstruct the peaceful transition of power.”

The committee requests that “information is sufficient to identify every telephone or other communications device” that Trump used from early November 2020 through late January 2021.

A legal challenge is expected from Trump’s team.

  • Bahahahaha this “committee” has no power to compel Trump to testify. This is just like Mueller, impeachment, tax returns, grab them by the pussy, Russia and every other controversy he has had. Trump is still here.
