‘Tesla Owner’ Reminds People to Stop and Appreciate the Joys of Ownership – Including the Spontaneous Combustion

One comedian found himself near the site of a Tesla which suddenly burst into flames in Scottsdale, Arizona, this week.

Daniel Peer decided to narrate a video (titled “Things I love about my Tesla”) of the resulting conflagration as though he was penning a question to Tesla CEO Elon Musk with a “what do I do?” question about the blaze.

Peer says, “I have a silly little question for Mr. Elon Musk.” He’s briefly interrupted by a pop as something inside of the car explodes.

He then continues, “Yeah, so my Tesla spontaneously combusted before I could grab the owner’s manual from the glove compartment.. does the autopilot feature still work in this scenario?”

The video then cuts to an aftermath of the blaze as firefighters continue pouring water onto the now completely burned-out husk that was once a Tesla.

Peer says, “Nevermind, nevermind – we figured it out. The firefighters have instructed me to take an Uber.” He laughs nervously, concluding with, “Thanks, Elon!”

While it’s just a bit in this case – it wasn’t his car, and the title of the video “Things I love about my Tesla” is clearly tongue-in-cheek – Peer is drawing attention to a serious problem for Tesla owners.

Not only have the cars been known to burst into flames on occasion, but because of the batteries they use, the resulting fires burn incredibly hot. It makes them difficult to extinguish and very dangerous.

Elon Musk, for his part, tends to ignore the fact that the issue exists at all.
