Orlando International Airport Finds Itself Awash with Stranded Travelers

This week, Orlando International Airport found itself the unexpected host to many stranded travelers amid historic flight cancellations.

Cancellations and the FAA slowing flight travel into Florida led to a backlog of travelers with nowhere to go.

And even once people started moving again, they had a problem – missing luggage. So much luggage was lost that the airport had to set aside a considerable space to store it all. People were forced to rifle through the pile one by one to find their belongings.

Outdated software and staffing shortages led to a nightmare travel snarl for Southwest travelers, which then caused a ripple effect through other airlines.

Although some travelers are finding ways out of the Orlando International Airport now (either on new flights or by other means), the headache is far from over.
