Oregon Sells $148M in Legal Weed in January and February

Oregonian residents are living the high life.

According to data released by the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission, the state sold $148 million in marijuana between January 1 and February 28 of 2023.

Based on the state’s 17% marijuana tax rate, that means it was able to garner $25.2M in taxes from the sales.

That brings the total of marijuana sold between October 2016 and February 2023 an impressive $5.4B – accounting for around $980M in tax revenue. The state’s marijuana law was first approved by voters in 2014.

These numbers could be appealing to states looking to boost revenue but which don’t currently have legal marijuana sales.
