Netflix Likely to Report Slowest Revenue Growth as Ad Plan Fizzles

Netflix is facing its worst fears as they are likely to report the slowest quarterly revenue growth this week.

The dismal report comes as Netflix’s new ad-supported low-cost plan has fizzled, struggling to attract customers in the US.

The slowing of revenue could force Netflix to make tough calls over the next year, including cutting back on content spending.

The OG streaming service has faced stiff competition from both Amazon Prime Video and Disney + and has struggled to find a niche ever since Disney pulled their content.

On Thursday, it’s expected that Netflix will report adding 4.5 million subscribers in the last quarter of 2022 – the lowest addition for the same quarter since 2014.

In the last quarter of 2021, for instance, they added 8.3 million subscribers.

The plan causing enthusiasm to fizzle is a $6.99 option supported by ads, which does not provide access to all titles.
