A mob of looters was caught on film ransacking an Arco gas station in Compton.

The crowd of hundreds made off with thousands of dollars in merchandise as the on duty clerk hid inside.

Locals were frustrated by the mob’s actions, which included several street takeovers.

They said it seems likely that the looters are from out of the city, with most locals saying that they don’t destroy their city so they must be outsiders.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area, but LASD said they are “currently limited with their staffed personnel” and “couldn’t intervene with the giant takeover groups for safety concerns” and because they were “outnumbered.”

Some locals say their efforts are simply inadequate.
