Meta Wins $200K Judgment Against Seller of Instagram Likes

Meta won a default judgment last week against a developer from Belarus who allegedly used a network of bots and Instagram accounts to deliver millions of automated likes to his customers’ accounts.

US District Court Judge William Alsup handed Meta the judgement against Nikolay Holper, accused of running a “fake engagement service” called Nakrutka.

Holper operated from multiple websites that offered services “designed to artificially inflate the ‘likes,’ ‘comments,’ ‘views,’ and ‘followers’ of Instagram accounts.”

Holper was ordered to pay Meta damages just under $200,000.

This includes $100,000 in statutory damages for cybersquatting, $89,351 in attorney’s fees and $10,184 in costs.

  • This is what meta spends its time on. You would think with the trouble they are in they would have higher priorities but I guess not.
