Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at the age of 96, and already people are talking about who will take the throne next.
The heir apparent is Prince Charles, but he’s a phlebitis-looking dust collector with enough scandals and controversies to make even the reserved British people gasp.
But perhaps worse than the prospect of King Charles is the idea that the royal family’s black sheep and nemesis, Meghan Markle, is one step closer to the throne now.
Don’t get me wrong, she’s still Six Degrees of Kevin Bacons away from Queen Meghan, but there’s still that nagging voice in the back of traditionalists’ heads today that they may just have a half-Black American close to the throne. Markle is not in the direct line of succession, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have access to the power of the throne if you move down the line.
The current line of succession is as follows:
- Prince Charles (heir apparent)
- Prince William
- Prince George
- Princess Charlotte
- Prince Louis
- Prince Harry
- Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor
- Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor
- Prince Andrew
- Princess Beatrice
Numbers 6, 7 and 8 on that list – Meghan’s husband and their children. Everyone knows that it’s not only the person on the throne who holds power but the person behind the throne, which in Harry, Archie or Lilibet’s case could well be Meghan Markle– currently in London and not Scotland … meaning someone didn’t make the funeral list?
It’s a sticking point for the royal family that their choices 7 and 8 are part Black – Markle has accused them of racism and shutting her out from the family inner circle in recent years.
Although the most likely outcome of Queen Elizabeth’s succession will yield a King Charles or perhaps a King William, it’s worth noting that there’s still American blood high in the rank – the times, they are a’ changing.
Wonder what reasons they will conjure up for visiting Britain once the Queens mourning period is over…
Oh watch and see how they really shut her out now that they don’t have to appease the Queen and after she’s been spouting off all over the place playing the victim about how horrible the Royals are. She’s done !!! Charles is not going to be as kind. Just saying
