Mark Wahlberg Left California for Nevada ‘To Give My Kids a Better Life’

Mark Wahlberg has bid Hollywood adieu – at least as a resident – in favor of Nevada.

Wahlberg said it was an easy choice designed “to give my kids a better life.” Wahlberg has four kids with his wife, Rhea Durham.

Wahlberg spoke Tuesday on The Talk, opening up candidly about the problems of balancing being an attentive and present husband and father while also juggling the demands of work.

The actor says that leaving what he calls “The Hollywood Bubble” helped him find that balance. Wahlberg said, “That is the biggest challenge. Every free moment that I have, I’m at home.”

Wahlberg explained, “I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there. So to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, or my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

Wahlberg says he’s “excited about the future.”

Wahlberg is not alone – many are making an exodus out of deep blue and insanely expensive California for more laid-back environs like Nevada or Texas.

  • CA is a corrupt and evil dystopian bleep hole – and any sane human being who can afford to relocate either already did, or soon will. It will be much like NY, mass exodus of talent and money leaving the state.

Most high tech company CFOs admit candidly that had they known what CA will turn into they would not have started their businesses in CA and some will likely be leaving soon.
