Louisiana Man Who Used Social Media to Target and Try to Murder Gay Men Sentenced to 45 Years

Chance Seneca has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in Louisiana for kidnapping and launching a brutal knife attack on a teenager in 2020.

Federal authorities say his actions were part of a scheme to kidnap and murder gay men.

Seneca used Snapchat and Grindr – which is used by gay and bisexual men – to set up a meeting with Holden White.

Seneca attempted to murder and dismember White on June 20, 2020. The day prior to his attack on White, Seneca used the apps to try to set up a meeting with another gay man but opted not to try to kill him.

At the time, Seneca was 19, and White was 18.

Chance Seneca handcuffed, choked, stabbed, and slit White’s wrists before he stopped the attack and dialed 911. He then waited for police outside of the home where he attacked White, and police found the victim inside a bathtub in the home.

White survived, but his wrists which were cut to the bone, required extensive medical care to rehabilitate the damaged and severed tendons. His left hand is left with permanent nerve damage.

White fears for himself and others when Seneca gets out of prison in a few decades, saying that people have treated him horrifically in the wake of the attacks. White said, “People tell me he should have killed me that night. He should have finished the job. They should bond him out so he can kill me.”
