Senator Lindsey Graham (R- South Carolina) is not precisely known for tiptoeing around his feelings.
But even so, new quotes shared by Politico are sending shock waves through his colleagues.
Speaking with officers four months after the riots, Graham reportedly said that he didn’t understand why they didn’t open fire.
Graham said, “You guys should have shot them all in the head. We gave you guys guns, and you should have used them. I don’t understand why that didn’t happen.”
It’s a stark contrast to another report Graham was disrespectful to the mom of a Capitol police officer who died on January 6 (Brian Sicknick).
Graham threatened to end his meeting with her “right now” if she didn’t stop criticizing Graham’s pal Trump.
While Graham has flip-flopped more than a fish on a dock, he’s usually fairly consistent in his support of Trump – and that certainly seems to extend to disrespecting the bereaved mother of American heroes like Sicknick.
But it should be noted that while he thinks Trump’s reputation should be preserved, he sees the lives of Trump supporters as nothing – a damning peek into the mind of Washington elite as they grapple with the fallout from the January 6 riots.
