Kanye Says LVMH Offered him Artistic Director Role Filled by Legend Virgil Abloh

As part of his newest public manic phase, Kanye West has been making the rounds with media outlets.

Over the weekend, he sat down with French media outlet Clique TV. He revealed that he was once offered the artistic director role that legendary designer Virgil Abloh ended up filling at LVMH.

Ye says he was offered the role by Chief Executive Officer Bernard Arnault but that “three months later,” the offer was rescinded.

West and Abloh rose through fashion early in their careers as twin stars, and West shared that he found out about Abloh’s appointment to the role “two minutes” before it hit the internet.

Ye explains that he felt “a lot of pain and jealousy.”

The revelation comes as West receives bans from Instagram and Twitter over the weekend for antisemitic rhetoric.
