Iranian Government Pulls All Cash from ATMs to Starve Protesters

As news coverage on Iran starts to slow down, know that the civil unrest is getting worse. It is past the point of hijabs and women’s rights- we are at a stage of murder, starvation, and survival.

Cities are still under attack, and protests are still going on at night in Tehran, Karaj and Mashhad (so far).

The video above is from Punak, Tehran. People are shouting: “We’ve got no money, no houses. But They say Hijab is the problem we’re having?”

These last few days, people have bought gold to save their currency from crazy inflation (30% in the previous month in dollar price pegged against Rial).

The government has pushed a law that spending more than 1 billion Rials (100 million Tomans or 2500 Dollars) in a single day at exchanges to buy assets is not possible anymore. The IRGC wants to stop the people from devaluating the Iranian Rial.

As a result, citizens are panicking and buying everything in “cash.” So now the government has started not refilling the ATMs with cash and pulling existing cash to stop this movement.
