Harvey Weinstein Lawyers Say Everyone Had ‘Transactional’ Sex Before #MeToo

It’s a bit of a weird flex to pay someone six figures to stand up in a courtroom and tell everyone that you can’t get sex without paying for it, but here we are.

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers have abandoned trying to make their client look like a good guy, and now they want everyone to know that what he did was expected – and not at all creepy or desperate.

Weinstein’s lawyers told the jury that there was no evidence against their client and said that every woman who will testify against him is an actress playing a role on the stand to push the “narrative” of #MeToo.

According to Weinstein’s lawyer, Mark Werksman, the women all had consensual sex with Weinstein but are now embarrassed and lying about what really happened. He told the jury, “Look at my client. He’s not Brad Pitt or George Clooney. Do you think these beautiful women had sex with him because he’s hot? No, it’s because he’s powerful.”

Ouch.

He added that back in the day, Hollywood was full of people having “transactional sex,” but things have changed. He said, “Sex was a commodity” for “rich and powerful men, like my client.” He continued, “Transactional sex … it may have been unpleasant … and now embarrassing.” But “everyone did it. He did it. They did it.”
