The American dream, once characterized by the belief that hard work can lead to success, is undergoing a transformation for some members of Gen Z. Disenchanted with hustle culture and seemingly unattainable markers of achievement, such as homeownership, this generation is turning to Europe as a model for the life they aspire to. In Europe, they find the promise of long leisurely lunches, extended vacations, and the ability to detach from work when the clock strikes 5 (or 1700).
