Gavin Newsom Comments After Monterey Park Shooting: Second Amendment ‘Becoming a Suicide Pact’

Back-to-back mass shootings have rocked California over the past three days.

Just two days after 11 were shot and killed in Monterey Park, California, 7 more people were gunned down in another mass shooting – this time, near San Francisco.

In the wake of the Monterey Park shooting, California Governor Gavin Newsom has spoken out, blasting loose gun control measures and calling for change.

Newsom spoke on CBS Evening News this week, saying, “Nothing about this is surprising. Everything about this is infuriating. The Second Amendment is becoming a suicide pact.”

Newsom clarified that he does not oppose people who “responsibly” own guns and go through background checks and training. However, Newsom says, current regulations fall short of the country’s needs in addressing the recent spate of gun violence.

  • It’s not the guns that are killing people, its the people killing people. Guns are an important part of our rights and self defense safety.
