Steve Harwell, the former lead singer of Smash Mouth, passed away early Monday morning at the age of 56, as reported by CBS News.
Harwell spent his last moments at his home in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by close friends and family. He had been under hospice care, according to CBS.
Steve Harwell was widely recognized for his contributions to the music world, particularly for Smash Mouth’s chart-topping hit song “All-Star” in 1999 and the popular 1997 track “Walkin’ on the Sun.”
In 2021, Harwell announced his retirement from the band. Throughout Smash Mouth’s career, they achieved remarkable success, including two No. 1 hit singles, five Top 40 singles, a Grammy nomination, and the sale of over 10 million albums worldwide.
