Former Prosecutor Says Donald Trump is Facing a ‘Legal Avalanche’ and ‘Imminent’ Indictments

Donald Trump is facing multiple major criminal investigations, including the Department of Justice’s probes into his culpability for the attempted insurrection on January 6, 2021, and his mishandling of classified documents. Also breathing down Trump’s neck is an investigation into alleged election interference in Georgia, and a Manhattan investigation into a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.

Former federal prosecutor Cynthia Alksne (who has worked in the DOJ Civil Rights Division and as an assistant US attorney in the US Attorney’s Office) spoke on MSNBC recently about her thoughts on Trump’s legal peril.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg recently extended an invitation to Trump to testify before a grand jury (looking into the hush money), which legal experts say indicates an indictment is imminent.

Alksne said, “It does seem to me that an indictment there is imminent. There’s a confluence of all these events [that is] overwhelming right now, right? Because we have an indictment coming out of New York, we have an indictment in Fulton County that looks like it’s coming, we have the E. Jean Carroll [rape accusation] that will be tried in April, and we have the Dominion [Fox News defamation] suit, which has a lot to do with Trump and lies. It’s an amazing legal avalanche on the shoulders of Trump right now.”

Despite the fact that Trump would well soon face multiple criminal indictments, he has promised to stay in the running for President in 2024.
