Los Angeles’ former Sheriff Alex Villanueva recently opened up about what he thinks the future of Los Angeles will look like.

Villanueva said that there’s a problem with other states sending their drug addicts to Los Angeles, if not intentionally then unintentionally.

Because there’s an expectation in LA that if you’re an addict, you’ll receive free food and free housing, and have no criminal consequences for your addiction.

Therefore, addicts seek LA as a refuge.

Villanueva says that advocates and activists are trying to plant themselves between the law and addicts, but don’t have a better solution, so as people are fighting out the details of how to help them, people are dying in the streets.
