Fmr Nevada Athletic Commission Chairman Regrets Sanctioning Slap Fights

The popularity of the new Power Slap League is growing rapidly.

As Dana White’s UFC starts to lose steam, White is focusing on the next “great thing” with the PSL.

But it’s not without controversy.

Power Slap involves two people standing across the table from one another and slapping the snot out of each other without any flinching or ducking. The last person standing wins.

It’s brutal and horrifying to watch – but some call it mesmerizing.

The last hurdle that White and his team had to clear to get the event sanctioned in Vegas was getting the approval of the Nevada Athletic Association, which they eventually did.

But Stephen J. Cloobeck, who was chairman of the state commission when slap fighting was approved, says he now regrets it. Cloobeck told AP, “I made a mistake. I’m not happy about it.”

White points to the sport’s growing popularity as almost a divine mandate to keep going despite pushback and regret among officials. But White always forgets that there’s a human cost to everything – and the human cost to Power Slap seems to be enormous.
