Facebook to Charge $12 a Month for Verified Blue Checks

If people were mad at Twitter for charging $8 a month to be verified, wait until they catch wind of Meta’s new plan.

Instagram and Facebook are testing selling verified check marks – for $12 a month.

The new “Meta Verified” program will give you a blue badge and several other benefits. Those benefits include increased visibility, protection against impersonation, priority customer support, and more.

Australia and New Zealand will be the first countries to experience the wonder of a ridiculous idea, “Meta Verified,” and other countries will receive their turn “soon.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote over the weekend, “This week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified – a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support. This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services.”

And nothing about recouping your staggering losses after betting big and bad on the Metaverse, right Zuck?
