Facebook and Twitter Working with Dept of Homeland Security and FBI to Police ‘Disinfo’

Documents show that Facebook and Twitter are working closely with the Department of Homeland Security and FBI to police what they call “disinfo.”

They’re suggestive of plans to expand censorship on topics that include the withdrawal from Afghanistan, origins of COVID-19, and information that undermines trust in financial institutions among others.

Earlier this year, DHS launched a “Disinfo Governance Board” which was rapidly dissolved after they received staunch backlash.

However, their mission remains under DHS sub-agency CISA.

CISA calls disinfo a threat to American “critical infrastructure.”

According to the documents which have been widely circulated online, Facebook and Twitter are working closely with CISA to insure that the agency has a way to rapidly request information takedown.

A process which was praised in an identities-redacted text between one company and CISA where an agent of CISA said, “The coordination is greatly appreciated.”
