Elon Musk to Twitter Employees: Get ‘Hardcore’ or Get Out

New Chief Twit Elon Musk is telling Twitter employees that they have a simple choice: get hardcore, or get out.

The video above is from a former employee who is now fired. FACTZ asked what she actually did at Twitter, and we couldn’t get a straight answer, “I was doing audience customer service and making sure our users were able to communicate in a timely manner.”

Doesn’t the code already do this?

In an internal memo, Musk told employees, “Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

In the memo, Musk suggests that Twitter will be “much more engineer-driven” and tells staff, “If you are sure that you want to be a part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below.”

Any employee who has not done so by 5PM Thursday will receive three months severance – the unspoken “get out” portion of the memo.

Musk titled the memo “a fork in the road” even as he’s publicly clashed with (and publicly fired) employees on Twitter itself this week.

Musk has said that he hopes that the fundamental restructuring of Twitter will wrap up by the end of this week, but it seems like a pipe dream from the outside.

  • Playtime is over and these employees are going to learn a hard lesson on what it means to have a lucrative job and working hard. Good job Elon for taking out the trash!

  • No more free lunch. Cutting out the bloat. No more 4 hr. Work weeks. The company can be run more efficiently with 10% working at 40 hr weeks.
