Unilever has issued a voluntary US recall of dry shampoos from Dove, Nexxus Suave, TIGI and TRESemme, aerosolized products that potentially contain benzene.

Benzene is a known human carcinogen. Exposure can occur by inhalation, orally and through the skin and can cause cancers that include leukemia and blood cancer, per the recall notice.

Products affected by the recall were produced prior to October 2021 and were distributed nationwide to retailers, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Products included are not limited to:

• Dove Dry Shampoo Volume and Fullness
• Dove Dry Shampoo Fresh Coconut
• Nexxus Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist
• Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Refresh and Revive

The notice recommends users stop using affected products immediately and visit UnileverRecall.com for instructions on being reimbursed.
