Disney’s Star Wars Hotel Drops Prices After Just a Year

As it turns out, Star Wars fans may be rabid – but they aren’t all rich.

Disney opened the long-anticipated Star Wars hotel less than a year ago.

But the price point – $5,000 a stay – turned out to be a terrible business model. Who knew?

Now, Disney has slashed prices for the hotel in an attempt to drum up more bookings.

There are only 100 rooms in the hotel, but they haven’t been selling out – a red flag for Disney as it considers the future of what it thought would be a cakewalk.

After the hotel opened in March of 2022, guests felt like the price (which could run $6,000 for a family of 4) was way too steep for the experience (or lack thereof) included.

The hotel’s bar charged full price for cocktails after you poured your blood into the booking price, lacked a pool and other fitness amenities, and had no windows to the outdoors – earning criticism that it was a “Windowless bunker.”

Now, guests can get discounts of several hundred dollars off (and 30% off for Disney Vacation Club Members).

But the prices will probably come down even further if you’re looking for a better deal. However, you might not want to wait too long – there’s no guarantee the Galactic Starcruiser will be a long-term destination with a flop this big.

  • Disney gas, in general, priced itself out of being a go to destination vacation for most people. Too expensive. Not worth the headache and heartache of trying to make the vacation happen.
