Dallas Cowboys Likely To Release Two-Time Rushing Champ Ezekiel Elliott

It appears the Ezekiel Elliott era in Dallas is coming to an end.

According to reports, the team is likely to release the 27-year-old running back in a cost-cutting move.

The transaction is not yet official, but the Cowboys would save upwards of $10 million in cap space if Ezekiel Elliott is designated as a post-June 1 cut.

This seemed like a possible scenario after the team franchise tagged Tony Pollard for $10.1 million, who ultimately surpassed Ezekiel Elliott as the team’s lead back.

Elliott, the former fourth-overall pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns four times in seven seasons with the Cowboys. He was the NFL’s leading rusher in 2016 and 2018.

Once he hits the open market, there will surely be interested suitors in the Ohio State alum.
