Critics Slam Biden for Declaring COVID-19 Pandemic is Over, Calling it ‘Misleading’

Critics have flooded social media to call out President Joe Biden for what they call “irresponsible” and “misleading” behavior.

In a CBS interview on Sunday, Biden declared that the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

But social media wants Biden to know that it’s reckless and irresponsible to say that when the virus is still having a significant impact on most people’s day-to-day lives in small and large ways.

Critics on the right slammed Biden’s use of emergency powers to combat COVID “if the pandemic is over,” while those from the left believe the virus still has a course to run and prematurely calling it done could mislead people into not being cautious enough.

Florida Gov Ron DeSantis tweeted, “Biden declared the pandemic is over. So, when will he let those discharged from the military due to vax mandates return to protecting our country?”

And OutKick founder Clay Travis tweeted, “Joe Biden says the covid pandemic is over. Left-wingers will be furious at him for this, but this is also interesting because less than a month ago, he justified canceling a trillion dollars in student loans by citing his covid emergency powers.”

Public health expert Dr. Lucky Tran tweeted, “If they want to retain any ounce of credibility, and public health experts who have access to the White House should be demanding that the President retract his statement that the pandemic is over. This statement will cause lower vaccination rates & stop COVID prevention funding.”

And Tony Leachon MD tweeted, “Wear your face masks. The COVID virus is still out there waiting for the next victim. Please do it for your family, workplace colleagues, and for the country. It’s not over.”

It marks perhaps the first time the right and left have agreed on something – just for vastly different reasons.
