Cristiano Ronaldo’s Time with Man Utd Basically Over as Club Seeks Contract Termination

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive (and definitely unsanctioned) interview, Manchester United has “initiated appropriate steps” to terminate his deal with the team. They also may be considering suing for breach of contract.

Man U waited until the full extent of Ronaldo’s comments were made public before they could decide what to do. The final part of his ill-advised interview aired Thursday in the UK, and now the team knows the steps they have to take.

Ronaldo claims they have made “zero progress” since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, adding that he doesn’t respect Ten Hag.

Ronaldo has also claimed that Hag provoked him to refuse to appear as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in October, a move that Ronaldo received intense public backlash over.

On Friday, Manchester United released a statement that read in part, “Manchester United has initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not make further comments until this process concludes.”

Sources told ESPN this week that Man Utd hopes to conclude their actions against Ronaldo “as swiftly as possible.”
