Con Artist Anna Delvey Sorokin is Out of Jail (Again)

Anna Sorokin is one of the most infamous fraudsters of our time, convicted of stealing over $200K while posing as a German heiress. And now, she’s a free woman. Again.

But it wasn’t her haul that made her so infamous – it was the fact that she so seamlessly blended into socialite society, working her way to the top without any of her peers the wiser that she was not what she seemed.

Sorokin was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison and was released in February 2021 for good behavior.

However, about six weeks later, she was picked up again and imprisoned for having an expired visa.

Now she’s being released from ICE detention – as long as she stays off social media and complies with other requirements.

ICE feels so comfortable letting her out because her infamy makes it harder for her to flee – the result of a Netflix documentary titled “Inventing Anna,” which introduced the public to her unique fake-out scam.

The judge overseeing her case said, “She will be required to abide by conditions of release imposed both by the New York State Parole Board and immigration authorities, which, combined with her status as a public figure, will make it particularly difficult for her to avoid detection. [Sorokin has] demonstrated interest in pursuing legitimate employment in the United States. Pursuits that will face heavy public scrutiny.”
