Khamzat Chimaev Missed Weight for Bout with Nate Diaz, Putting Event at Risk of Cancellation

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is almost sold out for a huge fight between two of the most popular MMA artists in the sport.

Khamzat Chimaev was expected to take the octagon against Nate Diaz, but now that’s all up in the air after a chaotic weigh-in.

It was supposed to be a mostly ceremonial weigh-in as the fighters prepped for their big night, but something unexpected happened: Chimaev missed his weight to be able to take on Diaz.

Chimaev was a shocking 7.5lbs over weight, and now it’s all up in the air as to what will happen.

There are other fights on the ticket of course, but none with the superstar power that brought the Arena so close to selling out.

This was supposed to be one of the (if not THE) final octagon bouts for Diaz, so chaos reigns supreme as officials scramble to decide what to do.

A “medical issue” is being cited for the reason behind Chimaev’s badly flubbed weigh-in.
