Tom Girardi, a high-profile lawyer, Democrat donor and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” husband, has been indicted on charges that he embezzled millions of dollars from clients.

Girardi and his partner Christopher Kamon (former CFO of Girardi’s law firm) were charged with five counts of wire fraud in Los Angeles, which has them facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Girardi and Kamon were accused of embezzling $15M from clients, using the money to cover both payroll and their own personal expenses.

To conceal their embezzlement, the pair allegedly lied to clients, stating falsely that settlement money owed to them had not been paid.

They also falsely told clients that settlement money could not be given out until certain requirements had been met – such as eliminating supposed tax obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations from judges and satisfying medical liens and debts.
