The mystery around the tragic murder of a Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter has continued to grow.
LVRJ reporter Jeff German was found dead outside his Vegas home early September 3. Police have said they believe he was stabbed to death the day before in an altercation.
And the person under the microscope? A former Democrat candidate for Clark County Public Administrator named Robert Telles who lost his re-election bid after German released a scathing report of impropriety in the workplace. Among allegations in German’s reporting was Telles creating a hostile workplace environment and engaging in an inappropriate workplace relationship that interfered with the office’s ability to discharge their duty to the public.
Telles was furious, lashing out at German on Twitter, at one point tweeting, “looking forward to lying smear piece #4 by @JGermanRJ. #onetrickpony. I think he’s mad that I haven’t crawled into a hole and died.” Telles tacked a cry-laughing face emoji onto the end of the tweet.
Adding fuel to the fire that the Dem candidate’s fury at German may have led to the fatal stabbing, investigators released surveillance that showed a 2007 to 2014 red or maroon GMC Yukon Denali with chrome handles. And yes – a vehicle matching that description was parked at Telles’ house.
County investigators have executed a search warrant at Telles’ house, leading to the inescapable conclusion that the Democrat took their professional feud too far and German paid the ultimate price for honesty in journalism.
Getting into politics nowadays seems worse than a Friday the 13th movie. You never know, if you make the wrong move or walk the wrong direction ( cue the music to Jason walking ) you might just be the next one.
Are we surprised a Democrat is involved?
