When Alec Baldwin pulled the trigger of a gun on the set of Rust, he claims he did not believe it was loaded with a live round and that he also did not intend (or did not actually) pull the trigger. Experts say that’s impossible; the trigger had to have been removed.

Breaking all of the rules of set etiquette and safety, the gun was pointed at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, which dealt her a fatal blow.

The 2021 on-set killing of Hutchins was immediately a hotbed of controversy as many people said that what happened was far beyond the bounds of appropriate on-set safety to be possibly intentional.

But so far, Alec Baldwin and others involved in the incident have avoided responsibility. That may soon end.

A New Mexico official has suggested that charges could come against four individuals “within weeks, if not days.”

The district attorney’s office sent a letter to the board of finance which specified that Baldwin could be one of the possible defendants and that “this case could require up to four separate jury trials.”
