45 Million Users Sue Facebook Over Monetization of Their Data

Facebook is facing a huge lawsuit from about 45 million British users over how they monetize data.

This week, Meta asked the legal tribunal to block the case (worth around $3.7 billion).

Plaintiffs say that users are not compensated by Facebook for the use of their data to earn money. Additionally, they say that if Facebook wasn’t as powerful as it is, users would be compensated for their data’s value.

Meta countered by saying that the claim is without solid grounds and shouldn’t proceed. They say that the plaintiffs are forgetting how much economic value Facebook provides to overall users.

The case is still up in the air.
